On Monday, January 18, several TECHS classes built Linux computers at the Education Service 10 in Kearney, Nebraska. The IT team at ESU10 and  IT students from the University of Kearney assisted the TECHS students in building their computers.

Bill Bolen recorded the students in the service unit’s “Green Room” and by the end of the day students viewed their video movie experience. Other projects worked on during the day was installing and using Jing for help videos.

So, what was left for Christmas 2009? Santa went a “little” old fashioned at the Dixon Christmas and the grandchildren were still happy with gifts such as Books, Lincoln Logs, an Electric Train Set, Jewelry, World War II Model Kits, and Digital Cameras.

Technology was not completely forgotten as Grandma hit the jackpot with a new Canon Rebel T1i Camera and telephoto lens. What a nice Santa as granny wanted this new digital camera FOREVER!

The Wii Project completed in December was the biggest project and details of it can be viewed on the Wii Project page.

Other smaller activities included assisting the LAN managers in the daily upkeep of the computer labs by cleaning and troubleshooting machines.

Making an ethernet cable and testing it was also a challenging assignment.

Sharing and publishing word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using Google Docs was another fun and interesting activity. Three Units of study were completed during the first semester–what was your favorite?
